Hello, this happened around 4 days ago. I just got done eating at night and went to bed and suddenly I could feel my heart beating hard and rapidly around 130bpm. I thought it was a panic attack so I took a xanax and just waited it out but it still kept beating. I had no pain anywhere and was able to walk around, use the restroom, etc. no problem. But it wouldn't stop beating rapidly. Eventually, I fell asleep, woke up, and felt fine. I take a shower, eat breakfast, and lay on my bed, and again it happens. I just ignore it because I don't feel any pain and eventually I dose off for a bit and it goes away again. Finally the next day, I eat lunch with my dad and some alcohol and felt fine. I decide to lay and watch some tv and next thing you know it happens again. Again no pain. I juss sleep it off again. I heard it might be acid reflux so I started taking mylanta and hasn't reoccured. But when I feel my pulse, it doesn't feel right. But I might be over paranoid about this. Help!

I'm worried they might be minor heart attacks. Does acid reflux cause rapid heartbeats? Can a rapid heartbeat = heart attack?? What are the symptoms you might have after having a heart attack? How can I know if I received heart damage w/o going to a doctor. I've been to a doctor a few times, but each time I did tests, they came out fine and said it was a panic attack. But this was different because I did not feel scared. Juss had the symptom. Thanks so much. Any professional input would be greatly appreciated. By the way I'm 26 years old Asian with no family history, smoked very moderately(3-4 a day) for around 5 years, but quit a year ago. Low body fat and everything else seems okay. I dont know what to think. Thank you.

It's been around 4 days since it last happened and I feel okay and I've never had this before. By the way, would there be a change in blood pressure (as in higher it or lower it) after a heart attack and if I received heart damage? And how would your pulse feel? My bp is the same as before.

Thanks Bilbo but did his stop? I mean this was a 4 days ago when it happened and it hasn't happened since. And the amount of alcohol I drank was around a 16 oz. cup of beer.

It sounds like tachycardia, which is a rapid heartbeat, and can have many causes. But some sorts of fibrillation can feel like that, and you should be checked by your doctor as soon as possible, since it might develop into something more serious that it has been. Heart rhythm disorders can be life-threatening. There could also be many other causes, including endocrine disorders. Please see your doctor asap!

Might have been Atrial Fibrillation. Which CAN lead to a heart attack. You need to be evaluated by a DR, and need an EKG to see if you have had a heart attack, and what rythm you are in. I would take this very seriously. I am a nurse, and I had a friend who was 30 yrs old who came to work one morning and his heart was beating fast. We did an EKG, and took him to the ER because he was in A-fib. They started him on a drip right away to bring it under control, and gave him medication. They believe it was from his drinking alchohol the night before and called it Holiday Heart, a term I had never heard before, but the ER doc said that alchohol can sometimes cause the heart to go into funky rythyms, but make no mistake.....this is a life threatning rythym. Get checked out NOW!!!

For whatever reason, you are having a rapid heart rate...what the physician would call a tachyarrythmia. There is probably an underlying cause (which is probably not a "heart attack) which could be related to heart valve problems or electrolyte imbalances. No one here can tell you what is wrong, you need to be examined by a physician and lab tests drawn, ECG, Holter monitor, etc. It may need to be treated medically or it may be benign and something that you put up with.

This doesn't sound AT ALL like a Myo-Cardial-Infarction. I AM NOT A DOCTOR...
That said, I have had the same symptoms and have felt better after a drink or a Xanax. It's as if my heart will beat out of my chest and I feel it strongly in my head and ears.
If you drink or take Xanax regularly,(as I have) without realizing it, if you slow down on either, that's when you probably have the symptoms. My Dr. has advised me to ween off of the Xanax slowly as it can cause you to have convulsions/seizures if you stop cold turkey.
Like you, I don't have to feel afraid or anxious to have the symptoms but I've learned that when I'm having them that I should remain calm and if it gets worse...GET MEDICAL HELP.
You may not suffer from the, Yes, WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS(&IT DOESN"T TAKE MUCH WITH XANAX!!!), but it could be something that you should speak to a Doctor about.
Best of luck!

Hi, I have a heart condition and what i have read u didn't have one.
I have mild heart attacks every now and then and the pain is very noticable, my left arm goes numb and i feel like something is stabbing me through my heart when i take a breath.
I think u should go for an altra sound to check your heart out, maybe u have arithmea (spelling :) ) which is the beating of your heart not being normal.
Hope you are better now. :)

Asking strangers online if you had a MI and trying to get any of us to give you a straight answer, is not only inappropriate it can be deadly. We're not trained medical professionals, nor do we have your detailed medical history, lab results or know your lifestyle.
These questions are best answered by a medical professional, AFTER, you are tested to see if you have had a MI or some other condition (many conditions mask a "heart attack" so you will need to checked to see what it maybe).

Most likely you did not have heart attack. But you should see doctor to exclude it. Any heart problem requires a medical attention. Normal heart beat at rest is for young male adult around 65 but a maximun under stress may be around 170.

Asking for medical advice on this forum is gambling with your life. Many people who post here have no idea of what they are talking about. You cannot be diagnosed online in this forum. You need to see a Medical Doctor immediately and tell them what your symptoms are and take their advice as to how to proceed. There are many tests that they can do to tell if you have recently had a heart attack. In any case, to ignore what your body is telling you is foolish and may risk your life. Please go see a Dr.

That's not a heart attack, if it was you'd know because those things are painful.
I think you should go to a doctor and get that checked out.

it's not a heart attack but i may lead to one. i have a heart condition i found about over the summer and my heart beats too fast and it races like you described, once in a while i get chest pains because of it but you should go to the doctors to get it looked at right away cause i supposedly had it for years but never noticed it until my boyfriend told me to go to the doctors cause he was worried about me and then i found out i have a heart that beats too fast and usually dosn't show up in young people like myself and usually show's up later in life. so if i were you I'd go get it checked out, it could be nothing but better safe then sorry.
