About 5 minutes ago I was just standing there and it felt like my heart stopped beating. I couldn't breathe for a minute and then it went back to normal and I got a bad headache. Has anyone else had this before? What is it? I have heart palpitations once in awhile if I drink too much caffeine or I'm super stressed, but I don't usually have it feel like my heart stopped and I can't breathe? Does anyone know what this might be?

PS I do not smoke. I'm not overweight. I exercise regularly. I don't eat junk/fast food.

i have an irregular heartbeat...i have been on meds for like 12 yrs now.(im 24)...last year they tried to change my meds, and i got really shaky, felt my heart beating and stopping, got really dizzy, couldnt see straight...i would go to your doctor and tell them what happened...they may send you to a cardiologist (heart specialist)....you may have to wear a holter monitor...its no biggie (it looks like a walkman) and its basically a portable EKG machine....you get little sticky things on your chest, and wear it for 24 hours, and it records your heart..you cant shower, so i would recommend taking a shower or bath right before you go get it on...the biggest pain is trying to sleep, if you sleep on your stomach...its not really possible to sleep on your stomach, so its a pain...but other than that, its not a big deal...they may do an echocardiogram also....basically an ultrasound of your heart...you dont have to drink any nasty stuff though....and they may do a blood test...i would get it checked out though because you dont want to mess with your heart...thats something you need...good luck and i hope everything is okay.

I'd go see a physician just in case. You could be experiencing pritzmetals angina, which gets exacerbated with stress. Do you feel a squeezing sensation in your chest when these attacks occur?

Could have been a palpitation or irregular heartbeat. I'm sure it scared the begeezies out of you.

you might have got a lung cramp. Or, perhaps you have a heart murmur. If you're that worried... go see a doctor.. it's your best bet

Sounds like you're a hypochrondriac. Trust me, if you heart STOPPED beating, you wouldn't be able to type this right now.

Psychosomatic. Look it up.

In the meantime, relax, you're not dying today. OK?
