This has been happening to me for the last 6 or 7 years. What happens is I get a weird lightheaded feeling and my chest feels like it tightens up and then my heart does this thing where it beats really hard and fast for a couple seconds. And I feel fine afterwards. It usually only happens once or twice a week but sometimes it happens multiple times in one day. What could it be?

You have a condition called Arythmia and normally it is not dangerous, unless it gets more severe. You should have it checked out, asap. In the meantime, cut down on sugar, caffeine or anything that seems to bring on these attacks. Your Dr. will do an EKG but it will not show up much, unless you actually have this happen during the test. If it's severe enough, you will be put on a med such as amioderone or pacerone.

Well, I know what your feeling. I would say its either one or more of the three things: Heart murmur, a prone-ness to anxiety, or your bodies natural reaction to being inactive after an active day. Do you warm up and warm down? Also, look into your families history of heart problems. I know that heart murmur or palpations can run through a family, or possibly some minor defect with your natural pacemaker. Dont worry about the latter though-is worse comes to worst, then all you will need is a pacemaker. Do you feel lightheaded when you feel this sensation? If so, consult another doctor-a heart specialist. ~Bill S.

I have had that, I used to get it a lot. I was lucky enough to be complaining about it while the dr was listening to my heart and it happened.. He set me up on a 24 hour monitor/ekg.. it recorded my heart movement for 24 hours.. it showed all as perfectly normal.. he did say that stress or fatigue can cause this.. I changed jobs, and it has gone away.. If you are concerned..ask your dr to schedule you for an ekg.. they are painless and only take a few minutes.

I have noticed the same thing happen to me. I have never really been concerned with it, but now that you mention it, maybe we should mention it to a doctor. It could be nothing...maybe we just forgot to breath a minute, or who knows...
Don't stress about it, you and I are both still alive. If it concerns you mention it to your doctor. Maybe someone else will have some good advice.

It is heart palpataions. You need to lay off the caffene. Plapations wont hurt you. I know they are scary. Ive had them last for 5 or so minites. As long as i dont have caffene i dont have them. Also if you smoke, that could be causing it.
