I may need to get a pacemaker, at 31 its really depressing. How does it feel inside? Does your pacemaker bother you emotionally?

Listen to me you have one duty and that is to survive and if you need a pacemaker in order to do that then you must get one in order to survive, It does not matter what others think for they may be looking forward to dying. You Do it because you have every right to live and to help other survive ok. Good Luck and live long and strong............ LUCK.

I have an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator. This thing is 2-3 times the size of the pacemakers out today, and I find it tolerable. Unless I hit it directly I rarely ever feel it.

As far as an emotional reaction to it, it beats being dead. I am a sudden cardiac death survivor, which is why I have this thing. You have an electrical problem, but that does not mean you have a muscle problem. My Dad lived until he was 90 after getting a pacemaker in his 50's

THIS IS CRITICAL. Your Dr is going to tell you not to lift your arm above shoulder level for a period of time. This is to give the lead time to seat in the heart muscle. Do what the Dr says for as long as he says. Get a sling and swath to sleep in so you don't raise your arm. You do not want to go through lead changes every time they change the pacer

I had one implanted at 33 and its really not so bad. It sucks just knowing that i had to have it. Feel free to email me at dmckinner@yahoo.com, if you wanna chat about it. Mine is also the ICD type, and it has done wonders for my heart!!! The worst part is having to have your arm immobilized for about a months time until the leads have healed and are stuck in your heart! At first emotionally it was hard once again because of what was happening to me, but you can hardly even tell now. It bothers me a bit if i get bumped or something right on it, but other than that its not bad!
