There are many cardiac conditions that involve a fast or irregular heartbeats. Tachycardia or Tachyarrhythmia is a general term that means "fast heart rate". Without knowing more about your friend's condition, it's impossible say what type of tachyarrhythmia it is (there are many).

Could be many things that causes this, has your friend been to a doctor. Arythmia I believe is the word for an irregular heart beat, but everyone's heart races a little when they are anxious, afraid, nervous and so on. Maybe he is like that only around you, then he is in love.

There are a number of abnormal heart rhythms [dysrhythmias] that could be causing this problem.

Without seeing a doctor and getting an evaluation, no one can tell you exactly what the problem is.

It sounds like AV node re-entry. I had this and people would tell me to sit down or lie down and there was no way I could lay down with a heart rate that fast, so I stood and sometimes walked around until I could get calmed down. It was like I had a bomb ready to explode into my head if I tried to sit down.
