cholesterol meds do not specifically target the neutral fats of the tris. you need to intake high fiber and low fats in ur diet along with cardio walking or jogging. if that does not work, then a med that i rx for people is gemfibrozil (lopid) which works well and is fairly cheap.

Triglycerides are produced basically from over consumption of simple carbohydrates(sugar, starch, etc...) by over production of insulin to drop the blood sugar. Fat consumption alone does not convert into triglycerides them self but when combine with simple carbs, they do. This is provided that the person in question in not active enough to burn the calories they are consuming. Consistent exercise helps, but rarely does any one burn enough calories to consume a high carb diet. There are "tricks"; 1. Eat complex carbs and avoid simple. Eat fresh. DO NOT drink regular sodas; 2. Retail carb blockers from white kidney bean extract suppresses the enzyme that triggers carb absorption. Taking these as directed can assist in stabilizing blood sugar thus lower triglycerides.

increased TG is part of Metabolic syndrome.
so to treat it ,decrease the metabolic load of body i e decrease weight and increase excercise, 30 minutes daily for 12 weeks will reduce 5-10% TG.
if at all then use meds prefferably gemfibrozil , and statins have no role in Tg controle it is used for high LDL and low HDL.
