I'm due in December, and my mom is having a hysterectomy and removal of cancer nodules in a couple weeks, due to ovarian cancer. Depending on the outcome of the surgery and the biopsy results, she may need to have chemo. If so, this will most likely be going on at the time I give birth. I have heard that those undergoing chemo cannot hold young children. Will this be the case? And what is the reason for it?

I missed out on the earlier resolution of this question...so I'd like to respond. I can smell cancer in people. I've been in training classes, at work, in restaurants, etc., and smelled a certain odor. It's a rather strange, sweetish odor, sort of cinnamony, if I had to say a 'ballpark' odor, but that's not it exactly. I have either found out at the time, or later on that there was a person present who had some sort of cancer. The training class in particular, the instructor told us that she had cancer before the class was over. I had almost determined that it had to be her, because the smell would come and go as she walked up & down the aisle between the tables in our class. I smelled this smell very strongly coming from a man I talked to at work a few weeks ago. He has had numerous health problems, & although he looked more healthy than I had seen him in a long time, he still didn't look quite 'right'. I'm trying to find out discreetly. My husband is beginning to believe me

My dad has lung cancer which has spread to his bones but he is not really telling us what the doctors have told him about his prognosis other than that all they all can do is try to keep him comfortable. I need to know so I can then make plans to be near him as we live hundreds of miles apart.

I have low grade dysplasia and HPV after having a coloposcopy and a leep procedure earlier this year. It has returned and I want to get a second opinion from a gynecological oncologst since my regular doctor is not really a specialist in this.

I haven't really paid attention until now about which Hospital is the best to go to, since they all run commercials that say they are the best according to some award or magazine article.

Which Hospitals in Chicago are the best in achieving cures in Cancer treatment, especially cervical cancer?

Marijuana has never given anyone cancer of any kind. If you don't believe me do the proper research. I had a man come to my school today and lecture us on Marijuana and cigarettes.. he claims that cigarettes have 3 times as much THC in them then marijuana and when i corrected him by saying that "cigarettes contain absolutely no THC" I got In school suspension for 5 days. Marijuana is not addictive and the only real health problem it causes is lowered sperm count.. and i believe that is only the stems in the plant.

Someone I know has a sore in their mouth. I was wondering since it's painful does this mean it couldn't be cancer??? This person does not want to get a biopsy due to psychological problems, so please don't suggest it. If cancer is a silent killer, that would mean that if this person bit down on the inside of their mouth and it's taking a long time to heal (3 months) and it hurts, that would most likely mean that it's not cancer because cancer doesn't hurt, right???

I went to the doctor because I have this growth on my jaw, which is pale brown and wasn't there when I was younger, and now resembles a pail mole (I have something similar on my back, and chin) but I looked at the rest of my body and found an suspicious mole behind my ear. I checked online and read about lymphoma and the like, and the swollen node is on the same side, but on my neck. It hasn't gone down, and when I went to the county hospital (for the mole, and an abcess) she seemingly ignored anything to do with the lymph node. I was examined for 3 mins. She brought back a dermatologist who said it looked normal but that she'd like to biospy it anyway. I asked about the swollen gland, and she didn't say anything to me, but she said to the derm "I think its viral" but never seemed concerned with it.

all symptoms- swollen node, ear-jaw-muscle-head pain. abcess, and just feeling weak.

meds- antibiotics & Depo

idk what to do, everyone says i'm a hypochondriac.

I just found out my friend has Lupus cancer, which I understand a little about...
but I don't really know, can it kill you??
There is no cure, is there?
Is it painful?
What am I supposed to expect...I haven't seen her in a week and a few days...& I won't for another 4 days...
I don't know how she'll be feeling or what I should do to help her...or how much pain she'll be in?
I don't have very much time to think about with school and a job 24/7...
