squamous cells are very flat, irregularly shaped cells that occur in the layers of the skin. Often, cancers can occur in these cells creating a skin cancer situation, but, if they are indeterminate, it means literally nothing, just that they are present. Something to keep an eye on if you have moles, watch them for changes, but not something to really worry about. The person posting before that stated she reads pathology reports, needs to learn a bit more about medical terminology and pathophysiology. Partial knowledge can be a hurtful and frightening thing if you are answering health questions.

Ditto to solorose. "Squamous cells of undetermined significance" is not cancer, they're just unusual looking cells. Further testing and routine follow-up should be done to make sure there isn't anything else that could be cancerous.

Squamous cells of undetermined significance are found in pap smears. They are what most people call precancerous cells. Frequent pap smear are required to make sure the condition doesn't worsen......

Squamous cells are cancerous cells. The undetermined significance, I think means they aren't sure where it is spreading from.
