There are different types of cancer that can develop in the hand. Skin cancer is one, but so is a type of rare cancer called sarcoma . . which can affect bone, soft tissue, tendons, joints, fat, or muscles located anywhere in the body.

One rare type of sarcoma, in particular, comes to mind called Epithelioid Sarcoma and can start in the soft tissue of the hand:

I have known people who post at the Sarcoma Alliance with soft tissue sarcoma that presented on the hand.

mostly likely cancer is skin cancer -
There are 3 types of skin cancer -
melanoma – the most dangerous form of skin cancer
basal cell carcinoma*
squamous cell carcinoma*
*Both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are known as non-melanoma skin cancer.

It is best to be Body wise - regular check your skin for changes:-
any crusty, non-healing sores
small lumps that are red, pale or pearly in colour
new spots, freckles or any moles changing in colour, thickness or shape over a period of weeks to months (especially those dark brown to black, red or blue-black in colour).

If you see any of these - go see you GP or doctor.

Skin cancers are almost always removed. In more advanced skin cancers, some of the surrounding tissue may also be removed to make sure that all of the cancerous cells have been taken out.

Hope this helps a little

The first to come to my mind is skin cancer: The three most common types of skin cancer are basal cell, squamous cell, and melanoma. Squamous cell cancers can metastasize (spread) and should be removed surgically as soon as they are diagnosed.
There is also cancer of the bone, soft tissue, muscle, and/or cartilage--a rare form of cancer called sarcoma.

skin cancer, bone cancer,

More likely if there is a lump in your hand or wrist is that you have developed a ganglion cyst.

This is not cancer, may go away untreated, but best to get it checked.
