Does the human papillomavirus go away on its own, or does it stay in your body forever?

The virus will ALWAYS be in the body in latent form (similar to herpes I & II). In women the HPV can cause cervical dysplasia which sometimes can rectify itself, but the virus will always be there.

I've had all 3 shots of the series, and I'm 15. I wasn't sick or anything, it's just that my arm hurt (it's a painful one) and the period immediately following each shot was slightly weird (one too light, one late, and one on-and-off), but no other problems. You have to understand that with any vaccines and medications, there are always going to be risks--it's a matter of weighing the pros and cons and deciding whether the benefits outweigh the consequences. Of course there is going to be the risk of some weird side effects, but it not only protects against cancer but also other issues caused by HPV.

unfortunately, it stays with you forever, so far no cures have been found. There is a vaccine for women, but thats to prevent yourself from catching the virus...if you already have it..then there isn't anything u can do.

You keep it. And it is a significant partner that needs to be attended to. If you have it, treat it nicely, the way you would a spouse. You do NOT want that spouse to get angry with you. And you do not want to share your spouse with someone else.

It is always there. There are meds you can take to help some, but it isn't going away.
