Does the U.S. government spend more money on cancer research and cures or more on diet / obesity research and pills? I'm curious as to how our health research is going. Any exact figures would really be appreciated. Thanks

I’ve been feeling sick for a while now. I’m extremely tired all the time, my head pounds continuously, my stomach hurts, so much that I was referred to a GI specialist, I don’t bruise easily but I seem to get lots of little cuts and I get little sores in my mouth a lot. Also my grades are dropping like crazy because I miss so much school. At school I we do this project, Pasta for Pennies- Pennies for Patients, where we raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society. I was curious so I went online to look up symptoms and a lot of them match. I’ve been to the doctor and I’ve had other test done where they try to figure out what’s wrong with me. Would they find it in my blood, I mean could they tell? What are the chances that I would have leukemia? I’m almost 17; wouldn’t they have caught this by now?

I am 22 years old, and on both sides of my family there has been alot of cancer. Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, 3 of my granparents have had cancer. The last few days have been a nightmare for me, I keep getting headaches and it feels like my brain is going to explode through my skull, i have been dizzy, sharp pains through my body in different spots, I have very bad memory loss, on the same day I forgot my purse in the store and locked my keys in the apartment, whenever I pick up my son from daycare or anywhere I always have to turn around and make sure he is in the car, I have been feeling very sick to the stomach, I have numbness in my arms and hands, to the point I can not turn the taps for water. I looked up cancer signs and these symptoms are on there. So now I am like freaking out. I do have a cold, and I have been tired the last few days. But I am so scared now, and I am scared to go and see a doctor. So can someone tell me if these symptoms are due to a cold? And not to worry so much

My husband is in advanced stage of terminal cancer and has developed an extremely sweet tooth and after 40 years without sweets this has come as a complete surprise.

Does anybody else have this same reaction - either to the disease or the medication - and is there is a reason why.

Hello all. Thank you so much for your helpful answers. I went to the doc yesterday. I don't know I don't feel a lot better. He felt it and said it was a swollen lymph node. But he said he did not think it was anything to worry about. Come back in 3-4 weeks to re-check. Then I told him over Christmas I had a temp of 101. and I have had pain off and on in the breast by the same armpit (remember breastfeeding for 12 mths) He said then come back in 2 weeks and if still there do a ultrasound. But he didnt tell me why or what he thought. I love him but he was in a hurry and I still dont know if I have something horrible wrong. Why did he change it to 2 weeks?

My 9yr old labrador cross springer spaniel is healthy, fit and well but I have found several lumps of different sizes around her teats Iv taken her to the vet the lumps are in her mamory glands and has suggested large op to remove as many lumps as possible on one side Why not just do biopsy first? If it isnt cancer she need not go through a nasty op?if it is cancer will the op speed up the growths? any advise? im so scared putting my beautiful dog through big op and regretting messing with it as she is so well.If she was unwell i wouldnt think twice about it.

I have made up my mind to quit smoking, however I don't think the "cold turkey" method is for me. I am wondering what worked best for you? Patch? Losenges? Other? Please be specific if possible. THANKS!!
