I get this question just fine. Let's see--you saw an endocrinologist. He found a nodule. They call them nodules on the thyroid usually, not tumors. You have gained 30 lbs. Makes sense since hypothyroidism will do that. Ok, so my GP 2 years ago found one. I went to do a biopsy. They could not determine with out a doubt if it was or was not cancer. They wanted to remove that side (left) and do a frozen section while under still to determine if it was cancer. Turns out it was so they took the whole thyroid out. I'll admit it, after surgery sucked. My throat hurt from the surgery and having that tube down my throat for breathing. However, giving childbirth was a lot harder. Cancer in any form is crappy, but this is so curable. You may only have a nodule that is not cancer. Most are not. A lot of the times they either remove it anyway orrrrr give you thyroid meds to try and shrink it. I was panicked too. I had never met anyone with thyroid cancer to even ask about it. Since, I have had the surgery, I have met tons. All pretty much are just fine. :)

Where is the nodule? Thyroid? Lung? Colon? Esophagus? Liver? Did the doc offer anything specific?
I would be scared too. We always fear the unknown. But being worried and anxious will only compromise your immune system more. I don't have anything specific to offer accept that I hope you can find activities and thoughts to distract yourself while you wait for the biopsy. Sometimes when I'm faces with things like that, I find getting my life in order helps me be less scared about it. It's a good time to do things you've put off, so if you face a challenge after the biopsy, your home, family, bills, records and anything else that is important to you can operate on auto-pilot for awhile. We're all different, but that helps give me peace of mind. Good luck to you!

Uh, you don't say where this nodule is (pretty damned important).
Yes, being scared is understandable and appropriate. There is no way around that fact.
1 1/4 inches is pushing 3 cm, so that would be significant as well... normally docs like tumors under 2 cm in most cases.
And, you didn't say if they found more than one. Again, if we knew where they found it, we'd be able to talk a bit more.

Please don't worry yet ... you won't know what the biopsy will say until you do it. Worry will only make you sick!
Start thinking about eating healthier in the meantime. Lots of greens and no fried or fatty foods.
It will not only help you to lose weight but you will feel better mentally too.
I hope you drink a lot of water ... distilled water is recommended for a healing program. You should drink half your weight in ounces of water daily.
Think positive ... and if you believe in it, PRAY.
Also you can do some visualization; close your eyes, breathe, and picture yourself healthy and fit. Try doing this anytime, but especially before you go to sleep.
Be Well .... all the best to you ... please stop worrying.

Although you never mentioned where the test was done, I wouldn't worry too much. Could be benign. But I suggest you are at the age when you should get once a year PSA's done. This is just a blood test to determine if you have prostate cancer. I had my prostate removed and am cancer free. So hang in there and remember most cancers if caught early are curable.

Most cysts and tumors are not cancer, so try not to jump to conclusions that will only upset you. Worry can only cause you stress. Try to have a positive attitude. Also, prayer is very comforting and I believe can work miracles. I will be praying for you too.

I'm trying to understand. Are you asking in regard to the biopsy? Can you elaborate on the question?
