Does the U.S. government spend more money on cancer research and cures or more on diet / obesity research and pills? I'm curious as to how our health research is going. Any exact figures would really be appreciated. Thanks

The government spends very little in the grand scheme of things on either of these directly. However, more would be towards cancer research though. Most funding is through 501c3 organizations which recieve grants, funding, and tax exemptions.

they spend more on assigning committees to study how much should be spent on each of those than they actually spend on research.
