Some nodules can decrease in size from thyroid medication. Has your doctor started you on any or is he/she going to do more testing?
For blood work, get a morning only free t4, free t3, TSH, and an antibody test. These tests should help to give a clearer picture.

is it a hot or cold nodule? thyroid nodules can be completely benign. and if not, most people do quite well after having their thyroids removed.
