My husband is in advanced stage of terminal cancer and has developed an extremely sweet tooth and after 40 years without sweets this has come as a complete surprise.

Does anybody else have this same reaction - either to the disease or the medication - and is there is a reason why.

Sorry to hear about your husband. Give him all the chocolates he wants, the same happened with my mother she was craving for sweet things. She preferred eating chocolates than food so whatever she craved we gave to her. Before she was ill she was always very conscious about her weight and eating very healthy but my mum knew she was going to die and was not bothered with her weight any more. God Bless you all.

I have always liked chocolate candy but not chocolate ice cream so when I had cancer in a tumor in my liver I still ate chocolate. I even eat it now after having a transplant.

I had breast cancer three years ago and I had a fondness for all things sweet....from what I have learned on this disgusting journey cancer actually feeds on sugars and all things ending in ose ie: dextrose, glucose etc.
Just a thought...hope you are at peace with what is happening to your husband
Good luck!

Eating chocolate releases endorphins that make you feel good.
This could be why.

he probably has ALWAYS loved candy and sweets, now that he knows he is going to die, why not satiate his craving? this has obviously showed him life is short and it's nice to treat oneself
