I know that I am permanently barred from giving blodd. I had Lymphoma, and that has a reputation for coming back [so far it hasn't]. So, in my case, it isn't the chemo, it's the type of cancer. Check with them because they have nurses that can answer any questions you have. Everyone, please give blood if you can, people need it! I'm sad that I can't give any more.

The American Red Cross makes you wait for 5 years. They kept calling me asking me to donate and so I told them that I couldn't b/c the wouldn't let me being that I had chemo and asked how long before I would be able to donate again. They told me 5 years. I'm not exactly sure why this is.

Not for at least 5 years after you have completed treatment and have been cancer free.
Been there, done that. At least the Red Cross isn't calling me every couple of weeks anymore asking me to donate again.

If you have had a blood related cancer (leukaemia/lymphoma) you cant donate. But according the the red cross web site you can after 5 years in remission for other cancers. (This is to protect the donors health, so it says) I guess they would do a case by case assessment

No. People had a cancer can't donate blood. Like me. But ask your doctor about it.

the american pink go makes you wait for 5 years. They saved calling me asking me to donate and so I informed them that i could not b/c the would not let me being that I had chemo and requested how lengthy earlier i might want to be able to donate back. They informed me 5 years. i'm not precisely particular why it truly is.

I was told by my oncologist that I could never donate blood after chemo, no matter how long it had been since my treatments had ended.

My husband, a cancer survivor, was told he could never donate again.
