I’ve been feeling sick for a while now. I’m extremely tired all the time, my head pounds continuously, my stomach hurts, so much that I was referred to a GI specialist, I don’t bruise easily but I seem to get lots of little cuts and I get little sores in my mouth a lot. Also my grades are dropping like crazy because I miss so much school. At school I we do this project, Pasta for Pennies- Pennies for Patients, where we raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society. I was curious so I went online to look up symptoms and a lot of them match. I’ve been to the doctor and I’ve had other test done where they try to figure out what’s wrong with me. Would they find it in my blood, I mean could they tell? What are the chances that I would have leukemia? I’m almost 17; wouldn’t they have caught this by now?

Your blood work should have picked up anything serious like leukimia. All of the symptoms you have described can be common of many illnesses but they are could also be stress related.

I think you should go and speak to your doctor about how you are feeling, not just physically but about the concerns you have also. You are going through a very anxious time worrying about this and I think you'd benefit from a talk with your doctor to let them clear up that leukimia isn't present and maybe find a way to resolve what is making you feel so anxious.

It's important you get help to settle yourself a little so that you can concentrate on important things like your grades and equally importantly relaxing enough to have fun like a 17 year old ought to.

Karma.

If you have leukaemia, your blood count should show abnormal blood levels, high white cell count, low haemoglobin and platelets. How ever you would have to have a bone marrow biopsy to be absolutley certain this is what you have. Sounds like something maybe going on, I hope for you its not leukaemia, my daughter had it (she is in remission) but her symptoms were a little different.

Blood tests are sometimes vague. Mine showed nothing. No one believed me until my tumor was sticking out where it could be seen. Please keep on seeing the doctors until you get a satisfactory answer. Something's definitely going on. I think you may have been to this site, but I'll give it to you anyway. It's got the best info out there:
