I have been allergic to onions since I was young. My father put some in a salad and I spent the day throwing up. My friend who loves onions didn't believe me and snuck one into my food last month and I threw up a couple times and felt like crap the rest of the day. Regardless of whether I know they are in there, or if I taste them or not, I still get sick. The only thing is that I am not allergic to chives or garlic which are both close to the onion "family". Also I can eat premade salsa (like Old El Paso or Tostitos) from a grocery store, but not fresh salsas like from Chipotle. Even when they are cooked I get ill and throw up.

My daughter is having an allergy test in a few weeks. She has been asking my questions about what they are going to do....if they are going to stick needles in her back....I need more information to tell her about it. An allergist is preforming the test; she got referred to him by her pediatrician. I know that it is the test that they do on her back. She is eight years old and severly allergic to milk. She gets hives at other times as well and we are not sure why. That is why we are getting the testing done. What happens during the test? What else should I know about the testing? For anyone who had it done...what does it feel like? Any more info would be great.

Has any one heard of a coconut allergy? My son and I have the same reaction to coconut. Hives, nausea, and sometimes vomiting. I'm sure these are allergic reactions, but I've never heard of a coconut allergy before. Any help?

I woke up this morning only to realize that my legs and arms were covered in hives. I took a Benadryl but it didn't help at all. As the day progressed, my hives got worse. These past few hours have been really bad, with the unbearable itching and the spots getting bigger on my legs.

So my question is whether I should go to school tomorrow or not, even though hives aren't contagious. I have PE in the morning, and I'm not really looking forward to showing off my hive covered limbs to other students. Are there any medical reasons as to why I shouldn't attend school?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I live on the 10th floor in Boston and my Cental A/C doesn't come on until April 15th. But I've read that the pollen count has or is about to increase. I don't want to let any in and it does get windy sometimes. But am I shielded from that worry being on the 10th floor?

I know this is sounds wierd and I already know smoking is bad for me, so please save the advice. My dr. prescribed Singulair for seasonal allergies/asthma. What I want to know is if it is alright to smoke and take this medication. He did not ask me if I smoked and I did not even think about it until I got home. Thanks for the info!
