My husband and I both have very severe allergies.. these are a few things that we do to help us stay healthy..
1. We run quality air purifiers in several rooms throughout the house.. the ones we use the most.
2. Dust... Dust.. and Dust again... you have to keep things clean and dusted...
3. Vitamins.. help your immune system out.

I hope this might help you out a little.. Good luck in Hay Fever season!

I don't know exactly what sort of filthy air you're breathing, but I know everything around here is yellow from all the tree pollen!
(cars, the ground, etc)

I have bad seasonal allergies, but I don't like to resort to sinus medication every day, and benedryl makes me sleepy.

What I do instead is drink more water, which always helps. Spicy foods (like salsa, which also contains vitamin C which also helps with allergies) can open up your sinuses and relieve some pressure. Avoiding sugar also helps me a great deal.
You can also get a HEPA filter for your home, which helps filter dust and pollen out of the air. Vacuuming stirs up tons of dust, too, so you can get filtered bags for your vacuum which will greatly reduce the amount of dust that gets spewed back into the air.

No matter what my allergies are doing, I find a good nights sleep in clean air makes me better able to cope with the allergies I face during the day. So I close my bedroom door and run a good quality HEPA air filter such as Envirocare by Honewell, or one of Sears Kenmore purifiers. They removed 99.9 percent of the junk that bothers me. My lungs at least get the night to recover.

I also drink lots of water. That really helps me cope with allergies.

I make a list of the things I'm sensitive to, and try not to get too many going my life at once, so my body doesn't get too challenged.
Here is a link to some air purifiers. Make sure they have a HEPA filter and prefilter system.
