Just got back from the pharmacy, they only have Clarityne. And Benadryl cough syrup (don't remember coughing..) so I went for Clarytine. Thanks to all.

Benadryl has been the most effective for me, but I use it only if I have time to take a nap after taking it -- it knocks me out.

I use Claritin, because it works for around 12-24 hours and is non-drowsy. Be aware, though, that drug stores will have you sign out to buy it and they'll only give you a certain amount at one time, because kids have been buying it in large quantities to make homemade meth. For nighttime, Benadryl works well. The antihistamines should dry up the sneezing and runny nose (which may also be causing post-nasal drip, something that causes you to have an irritating non-productive dry cough) and take the itch out of your eyes.

I have found Benedryl to be about the best and it comes in generic too which is really cheap and works just as good. I use it because I have really bad allergies, and I have high blood pressure and it is the only antihistimine that I can use with my HBP meds. It should work really well for you, but if you have questions check with the pharmacist. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Different drugs work for different people, but these are what my husband and I (major allergy sufferers) find helpful:
Chlor-trimeton, Claritin, or a generic version of either. Good luck!
