How effective condoms really are against HIV. I read a research the other day that indicated they are only 80% effective. Against a disease like HIV I think 80% is not good enough.

For the past three weeks or so, I have had a really painful heel. There is a pea sized, slightly red spot on the back and there is a hard area all around it which hurts when pushed.

It's not just hard skin - I have tried treatments for that - and I'd like to know what it is as it hurts! And if anyone knows, what can I do to help it?

I've looked up a few things, like plantar fasciitis, and it doesn't seem to have the right symptoms. Please help!

I get red bruises (bright red/maroon as they fade) from pressure as slight as clothing. If I wear a sweater with a thick weave, I'll have the pattern on my back.If I lay on a raised pillow case, I'll have the stitching on my face!
These marks disappear within one to two days, but are caused daily by my bra and clothes worn during the day.

I have had a blood workup by my G.P. for anemia and clotting disorders, all with negative results. The bruises are like large petechiae, but they have been ruled out as well. Any ideas?

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism yesterday and prescribed Synthroid. I am relieved that the diagnosis will be the answer to many of my problems. How soon has anyone seen results with problems like hair loss, fatigue and weight gain after starting on Synthroid?

Not a big deal, I'm not worried but they'd told her to be careful about too much contact with people. Just wondering what the risk of it actually harming anyone else is? Is it just a precaution?

I think that I have damaged my kidneys by consuming excessive amounts of protein, I have clicking joints which is a sign of kidney problems (for reasons which I do not know).
Do kidneys heal themselves if i was to reduce my protein intake? Are there anyways inwhich I could change my diet (ie. including certain foods) to promote healthy kidneys? How long before I start seeing results?

Thanks

My father has worked for a trucking company for a few years now and has always carried helth insurence through the company. Last week they descovered that he has life threating cancer and time could be rather short. if he is made unable to work because of this cancer will the company still have to continue to offer or pay health insurence? we are not a rich family and these treatments can become very expensive.

I have a 2 y/o and I don't have time to "take care" of myself. I read about oatmeal baths, milk compresses, etc. The only thing that I can do is apply aloe because she keeps me so busy. I'm having such a hard time taking care of her and I'm looking for some easy, quick, and fast remedies. I feel like I'm going to pass out and "get sick." Somebody please help me. :(

I have been suffering from constant nightmares from the age of 5. Every morning remember at least one nightmare - Im exhausted most of the time and certainly don't look forward to sleeping. I have tried meditation and yoga, but still have the nightmares. I have tried wearing myself out with strenuous physical effort throughout the day to no avail. I don't eat a few hours before I sleep and live alone. The only respite I seem to have from nightmares are when I take sleeping pills (very rarely). Does anyone have ANY suggestions - any meds ( benzos, SSS1 etc ) that you have taken that seem to dissapate nightmares?

It has cost me and my boyfriend countless hours of sleep. Ive tried Restless Legs, Bengay, and even Sleeping Pills. I have no insurance coverage. Do I have a vitamin or mineral problem? If so what am I lacking? Please someone help I need to sleep again.
