How effective condoms really are against HIV. I read a research the other day that indicated they are only 80% effective. Against a disease like HIV I think 80% is not good enough.

Do NOT use 2 condoms, it actually increases the friction on the condom(s) and will greatly increase the chance of breakage.

Also, I was taught 80-90% reduction in probability of infection. There are still tiny holes in the latex which could allow passage for a virus or sperm cell.

If used correctly they are 98% effective in preventing HIV. Its completely untue that the virus can pass through "holes" in the condom. This can only happen if you put a hole in it yourself.

Condoms will protect against any STD if properly used. However, there is always the chance of it breaking or falling off during sex, so if you are concerned, use two.
