We are a patient group of diabetics using insulin pumps. We are trying to persuade the UK Government to put more resources behind insulin pump therapy in the UK. We fall way behind in the use of medical technology compared to the rest of Europe and the USA.

I am trying to establish how many diabetics use insulin pumps to treat their diabetes throughout the world. Any information would be gratefully received

My partner has an allegery to both wheat and yeast. We would like to know if there is a form of alcohol out there that she could drink without adverse affect.

Spirits may not contain wheat as they are distilled and not fermented yet they must still require yeast. We have heard that yeast is killed off in alcohol greater than 15%, if this is true is there evidence available?

My Mum has varicose veins which were operated on a few years ago but are still bad. Yesterday when she was drying herself after a shower one burst and started pumping blood everywhere. I got her to sit down and I put her leg on a stool, put a clean towel on her leg and applied direct pressure to it. It stopped after about 15 minutes and she was ok after. She just had a small hole like a knitting needle puncture in her leg. She hadnt banged or scratched her leg off anything.

I want to know WHY this happened? Is it a sign of something bad. Is it likely to happen again? Also, should she consult her doctor? She hates wasting Doctors time and doesnt want to go as the bleeding stopped but it was really bad. I used 3 bath towels to soak it all up!

She's on asprin and medication for high blood pressure.

No joke answers please. This is my mother and I am very worried.

I have serious cancer and I feel that I'm getting worse and worse. Doctor have already stopped my chemotherapy. Now doc and my parent are starting to talk about end of life care. Because I'm considered too young, I don't well informed about this and my parents seem reluctant to talk about this openly. And I only get a very blurr idea about this kind of treatment.

But I need to know. What's end of life care? What I get with this care? How do they treat me? Is someone who get end of life care mean her death is very near? This is very important to me, and i need to know.

I was given my albuterol inhaler when I was diagnosed with Asthma at age 21, however, they said "use as needed". so here is my question, when do I need it? When I have a coughing fit and my chest hurts? when my chest aches and it's slightly hard to breathe? when it's hard to breathe, but I can still breathe? when it hurts to breathe? I honestly don't know, and I think I should be using it a lot more than I do, but I often just wait for it to pass, even though my chest always hurts. For instance this week I've had breathing problems everyday, and my chest has been sore all week....so please help, I just don't know!
