My wife was just diagnosed with bronchitis and I'll type the everything that they put on the paper that they gave her on bronchitis...
"Bronchitis is swelling and irritation in the air passages of the lungs. This irritation may cause coughing and other breathing problems. Acute bronchitis often starts because of a viral illness, such as a cold of the flu. The illness then spreads from your nose and throat to your windpipe and airways. It is usually not a serious illness. It usually lasts about two weeks, although coughing can last over a month. Treatments may include medications, using a humidifier or vaporizer, and avoiding things that bother your lungs (such as dust). In healthy people bronchitis goes away on it's own.Ibuprofen or acetaminophen may be used to help decrease body aches and fever. You may need a cough medicine to help loosen phlegm in your lungs and make it easier to cough up. This type of medicine is called an expectorant. Drink plenty of water if you are taking an expectorant type medicine. Coughing the phlegm out of your lungs can help you breathe easier.
AVOID THINGS THAT CAN IRRITATE YOUR LUNGS.
Do not smoke, and do not allow others to smoke around you. smoking increases you risk of lung infections and bronchitis. Smoking also makes it harder for you to get better after having a lung infection. Stay inside or cover your mouth and nose with a scarf when going outside during cold weather. You should also try to stay inside on days when air pollution levels or pollen counts are high.
DECREASE YOUR USE OF THINGS THAT ADD IRRITANTS TO THE AIR OF YOUR HOME. Products to avoid using indoors include spray-on deodorant, bug spray, and hairspray. Stay away from chemical fumes, dust, and smoke. Wear a face mask if you must work around dust or fumes.
USE A VAPORIZER OR HUMUDIFIER. Use a cool mist humidifier or vaporizer to increase air moisture in your home. This may make it easier for you to breathe, and help decrease your cough. Wash the humidifier each day with soap and warm water to help keep it free from germs.
EAT A HEALTHY DIET. Good nutrition can help your body fight illness. Eat a variety of healthy foods everyday.
DRINK ENOUGH FLUIDS AND GET PLENTY OF REST. Most people should drink at least eight (8 ounce) cups of water a day. This helps to keep you air passages moist and better able to get rid of germs and other irritants. You may feel like resting more. Slowly start to do more each day. Rest when you feel it is needed.
WHEN YOU ARE SICK, DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. Alcohol dulls your urge to cough and sneeze. When you have bronchitis, you need to be able to cough and sneeze to clear your air passages. Alcohol also causes your body to lose fluid. This can make the mucus in your lungs thicker and harder to cough up.
EXCERCISE YOUR LUNGS. Deep breathing helps to open the air passages in your lungs. Coughing helps to bring up sputum (Mucus) from your lungs. Take a deep breath and hold the breath as long as you can. Then push the air out of your lungs with a deep, strong cough. Put any sputum that you have coughed up into a tissue and throw it away. Take ten deep breaths in a row every hour that you are awake. Remember to follow each deep breath with a cough." I hope that this helps to answer your question. Best of luck to you and yours.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

Bronchitis is an obstructive pulmonary disease characterized by inflammation of the bronchi of the lungs. It is a common disease of habitual tobacco smokers and residents of polluted cities. Like many disorders, bronchitis can be acute (short-term), or chronic (long-lasting). Chronic bronchitis is defined clinically as a persistent cough that produces sputummatter that is coughed up from the respiratory tract, for at least three months in two consecutive years.

Chronic bronchitis is predominantly caused by smoking, and has also been linked to pneumoconiosis, excessive alcohol consumption and exposure to cold and draught.

Prevention-

The best way to avoid acute bronchitis is to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, to get lots of rest, and to drink lots of fluids. Acute bronchitis is most commonly caused by viruses or bacteria, which spread via coughing droplets in the air and/or from touching contaminated surfaces.

Chronic bronchitis is often preventable. The main action to reduce your risk is to eliminate exposure to cigarette smoke and other environmentally hazardous fumes. Smokers in the early stages of chronic bronchitis can change and improve the course of the disease by quitting smoking.
