So I just started college, and my roommate uses a strong cologne virtually everyday whenever he goes out. Anyway, the cologne smells fine at first, but after a while, the after-smell in the dorm room is really unpleasant. (Unfortunately, windows in this dorm can't be opened.)

My question: Family history shows that many of us react very poorly to particular scents, and obviously I've got this trait (reactions such as bad feeling of the stomach, diarrhea, feeling nauseous, etc). What kinds of medicines out there can you take on a regular basis to eliminate getting sick when smelling these scents for long periods of time?

growing up, i've had several dogs. a few beagles, and a few mutts. i got a dog in the beginning of august, and i found that whenever she scratches me, and sometimes when she licks my fingers, i develop swarms of little itchy red bumps.

they aren't all that bad either, i just shower, and they stop itching, and they disappear within the hour. i hardly ever sneeze or have any sinus type problems, and my asthma doesn't ever start up.

so it seems i've recently developed a very small case of an allergic reaction to my dog. i haven't gotten any contact with other dogs, but ... i'm wondering if i'm only allergic to MY dog...

been struggling with MRSA for about a year now, taken several different antibio. clendamycin, bactrim, Septra, Doxicycline, all of this after an ititial 9 day cleocin via IV. I finally decided to see a different doctor.....maybe he knows what he's doing...you could understand my skepticism at this point...but, he has me on Rifampin, 1200mg. a day and Bactim 1200mg aday....I don't think I have had this high of a dosage as of yet....it's really drained the life out of me....anyway, also concerned after reading about the Rifampin...that its mainly used for treating active TB.....anyway, at this point...nothing really makes sense at all......and of course, im not a doctor or nurse.....sooooo, if anyone has any input on this I would really appreciate it.......I know EVERY case of MRSA is different...but.....I would like to get some info.....anyone had or anyone know someone who has been successfully treated for MRSA, if so, fill me in please. thanks a bunch yall, sincerely.

I didn't have it as a child. My parents smoked while I was growing up. The doctor is always surprised when I tell him that I've never smoked.

I'm allergic to cats & thanks to my wife we own one. Usually every few days the allergy attacks different parts of me (one day - red eyes, next time difficulty breathing, then areas of itchy skin....never really know when or where I'll be affected). I live with it have gotten used to it. My question is about 2-3 times a year I get blisters at the entrance of my nostrils (look like poison ivy bumps).............Can this also be attributed to the CAT? (& what the heck should I put on them?) THANKS

I have been having heart palpitations (I'm not real sure if that is how you spell it) I have had them here and there growing up, but nothing major. I noticed them more when I was pregnant with my children. But here lately they are becoming more frequent. I have no medical history due to being adopted. Sometimes if I am lying flat i can't breath, other times i'll be sitting here just like I am now and can feel my heart go nuts. It feels like I can't breath, my heart skips beats and it feels like I have "butterflies" in my stomach. If i get upset it starts, or if I yell at the kids for dinner I loose my breath. I saw my family doc and he is an idiot. He said I need a day at a spa!! Can I or should I go directly to a heart doc. or what? Thank you.

My gastroentologist told me 3 months ago that I have a gastric reflux problem, when I sleep the acid goes back to my throat. Its been really hard for me for 3 yrs now because I have a difficulty sleeping and I get this feeling of being bloated when i wake up. I was brought to the E.R. 2 days ago because of dyspepsia due to my gastric problem. Just wondering if theres people out there who's going through the same thing. Thanks

When I was ten years old, my younger brother Jeff died of leukemia.

Cancer kills 7 million people worldwide each year. Yet it is a treatable disease that—in time—is beatable. However, in today’s troubled global environment, valuable resources that would otherwise go to cancer research are frequently re-directed by the crisis du jour.

What can we, as individuals and as a global community, do to focus & mobilize our governments to find the cures that will make cancer a fear of the past?
