Good for you. That is wonderful. I have a son with cancer and he has lost all his hair now. Hopefully our treatment will be over soon and I hope and pray he's cancer free and will remain that way. I've seen many children in the hospital, all of them no hair...the teenagers and girls especially really appreciate the hair I am sure of it! So hats off to you for doing so. I doubt anyone would want my greying hair...shhsh...no one but my hairdresser knows that...LOL...but I think it's great that you do that. My daughter said when her hair is long enough she will cut it for cancer too. My husband and son shaved their heads this summer to keep my son company. They all think it's cool now and want to do it again! :~)
I just thought of something...this would be a great project for school aged children. Every year they should do this as an event, perhaps at the time they have their cancer drive! We have two annually. I think I will suggest it in our school. Thanks for inspiring the thought!! :~)

Yes, I do it every three or four years. They want about 8 - 11 inches and they use the hair from three people to make one wig.
Some salons will have charity drives where you can get your hair cut for free, other salons will charge you for the cut but mail it off for free.
My friend's daughter has alopecia and that's how I discovered it. I think there's another organization that does it, too, for women cancer patients...

My daughter did eight years ago when she was going into the 4th grade. The hairdresser knew where to send it so if you're trying to find out an address (can't really tell what you want answered), I can't help you there. It's was painless. You need to have clean hair in a ponytail. Put it in a plastic bag and send it off. Easy, peasy!

Yes my daughter did she has done it twice. Once 10 inches and once she did it with 12 inches. Her hair grows incredibly fast and she likes to help people. She is growing it again for cancer patients specifically. this time. Her friend has cancer and always wanted blond hair. so she Will get the toe head (white blond) hair.

My daughter did 3 yrs ago. She was 7. She had really long hair and wished to cut it. I made the suggestion of donating it. She thought it was a great idea, so that is what we did.

I haven't, but a friend of mine has done it. She grew her hair out for about 3 years and just lopped it off about 3 months ago. I think it's precious. Me? I'm just thankful to have my hair growing back due to losing it from chemo! lol

My daughter did in her senior year of school and she felt so good about it that she's growing it out again to do it all over. The people who get your hair will love you for it, even though they never will know you.

My husband and I both have. We grew our hair real long, he donated 13 inches, I donated 10. A bunch of girls that I work with have also donated. One girl, Nancy, will grow her hair clean down to her butt and then donate it all, and start over again. I think its a great cause, and I plan to do it again.
