It comes and goes to the point I forget about it until it comes back. It hurts when I open, chew, spit, or doing various movements with my mouth. It sends a really bad feeling through my whole body. It hurts so bad I start to cry and can't eat.

Today my son started taking fentanyl 12 mcgs/hr and I have concerns about this pain patch.
He has had chronic back pain associated with a herniated disc for a couple of years and doctors don't seem able (or willing) to do anything to fix his problem. He has been taking narcotic medication for this (Percocet) and also attending a pain clinic where he has had four prolotherapy treatments. The doctor at the pain clinic is now prescribing this fentanyl patch which seems like a low dose. If anyone is taking this patch or has taken this patch, please write about its' effects on you, whether your dose was increased and whether or not it helped you. He is unable to work, has no income, and no one seems to be doing anything to help him except medicate him. Any advice?

Sometimes if I need to stay up late to finish a project or something, I really can't concentrate. I don't like the taste of most energy drinks and I have to drink a lot of coffee before the caffeine kicks in. Do you need to be a certain age to buy caffeine pills?

I'm pretty sure that hyperextension only refers to when the joint is bent too much, but along it's normal path of movement. What would be the correct term for when a joint is bent in a direction other than its normal path, enough to cause injury, but not enough to dislocate? would that also be hyperextension?

My 5yr old son has had problems with his toncils for 6mons now, they are kinda large and he has bad breath .Every time I take him to see the doctor they tell me the same thing. To have him gargle with salt water and use a mouth rinse. They say that his toncils arent large enough to be taken out and they did a strep throat test on him and he dont have that. They wont prescribe him an antibiotic if he dont have strep. I have him brush his teeth gargle with salt water and rinse with childrens mouth wash morning noon and night , I also have him eating chicken noodle soup. Has anyone else had this problem and found out a way to fix it? I'm frustrated with the doctors and don't know what else to do.Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

I have this dry hacking / tickly throat thing going on right now as a result of a cold. Its more annoying than anything else. Should I get a suppressant to just make it stop, or should I get an expectorant to loosen it up?
I have no idea when to use one vs. the other.

Thanks.

today. I have been in sever pain for a while now. The doctor I saw was a neurologist because they thought I had MS. He gave me Topomax to try. My pain is so intense that it causes nausea and I have been taking Lorcet 10mg but that doesn't help the pain either. Does anyone have other suggestions, I am thinking about trying to get ST Disability until I can get this pain under control I cannot walk, clean my house, work, or anything it is UNBEARABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother is now in his 40s and is still a heroin/crack addict and probably an alcoholic too. He is almost living on the streets...kind of bouncing from place to place for a roof over his head. He lives in another state (PA) and I am wondering what the likelihood is of a court granting me the right to get him into a 12month or longer rehab program. Cost is not an issue here, I am simply wondering about the likelihood of being able to institutionalize an adult who does not fall into the usual categories of those which would allow institutionalization.

I know for years I have had hip and low back pain. But now, I have sort of a limp in my walk because my right hip, right butt and right low back has been killing me with a sharp pain. It hurts bad. Now I was mowing the lawn this morning, and when I finished, my left arm now all of a sudden hurts. Maybe I sprain it. But not sure. Any suggestions?
