I am suffering the same thing that you are. My mentsral cylce controls my life and what I can and can not do. I can no longer wear tampons. The blog clots will not absorb in the tampon so the blood clots come around and out the bottom of the tampon. Then the tapmpons is so wet it falls out. But it is not blood. I am thinking it is some liquid from the blood clots. I have to wear four thick four thick pads at a time. I change every one two hours. Because I am leaking. If I am sitting down and have a bloot clot. Then it gets smooshed. The pads do not absorb the blood clots. I have to get up four times a nite to change. Even then I can wake up all bloody and blood clots making a mess. I am on my fourth week now of non stop heavey bleeding and blood clotting. I have to be careful what kind of chair I sit on because when I pass a huge clot it does not get absobed so it explodes inside my pads, which then leaves the pads and gets on my pants and leaves a red stain or spot on the chair. I am thankful that I work at home now. I have had to miss school functions with my daughter because of this mess. I have been on birth control tried that shot. I was even put on a strong hormone pill or some sort of pill that was suppose to stop the bleeding. It did not work, nor did it make it any lighter. It was also suggest that have hysterectomy. I am 38 years old. I have one daughter. But I am not sure if I am done having kids. The cost of buying pads is really cutting into my budget. It is embarrassing going to the store and buying for jumbo packs of thick pads at a time. I have now purchase disposable diapers with leak guard. So I am going to give those a try. Next week will be week five. I do so hope it is gone by then. Because of this, I am anemic. When I had lung surgery ( non smoker) last year. I was so anemic, that after the surgery they had to give me a blood transfussion. I took iron pills and they would not help me being anemic. So yes I am tired all the time. To those of you who have never suffered this, you have no idea what is like. Even though I change pads every one two hours. There are still many times that I leak. I change my pants many times a day. When I go to the bathroom, I feel the huge blood clots coming out. I feel for you, because I know what you are going through. I have been to two different doctors who feel that I should have a hysterectomy. My mother is being very pushy and telling me I have no one but my self to blame, because I choose not to have a hysterectomy. Right now it is not something I want to do. With that surgery comes side effects. So either way I suffer. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you can find a dr. who can help you.

I definitely disagree with the whole hysterectomy issue. Your doc who told you to get one is full of it. Even if you were to get one, it creates a whole other slew of problems. I am not sure of your age but remember as we get older, our menstrual cycles change. They get harder sometimes more painful and the flow can be just damn annoying. I am 38 and suffer from the same thing. I suggest getting another opinion, maybe even consider going on birth control to regulate your cycle. (if not already taking it) I have tried the Depo shot and it stopped my period all together, but it may not be for everyone. Good luck!

I think you need the second opinion but did they put you on hormones like birth control to stop it. You can become anemic and that will make you feel just terrible not to mention the other things that can happen. Check on Web MD

Find a new doctor and quickly. I had a friend who had that issue, they were able to get her some medication to stop her period so she could recover. Just make sure you see someone before you become (more) anemic.

Find a new doctor - or - if it's so heavy that you're experiencing weakness because of the blood loss then you should go to the emergency room.

You need a new doctor. A hysterectomy should be the LAST option, not the first.
