I use to wear tampons all the time. I know if they are not put in right they can feel uncomfortable. When that would happen. I would take it out and put in a new one. Now I am suffering from heavy long periods. So I can not wear a tampon. The blood clots go right around the tampon and come out. Clots are not absorbed by the tampon. So I wear four pads at a time for all over somewhat protection. There are times I do try a tampon and because my flow is so heavey. When I go to put the tampon in and release it, when I pull it out. The tampon come out because. The plastic or cardboard applicating is wet wtih blood. So the tampon would not release. hard to explain.

Tampons. Pads feel like a diaper. Plus you can do more things when you use tampons (ex: swimming)

I have been using tampons since I was about 20. I just like the fact that if they're placed right that I can't even feel them. I also like the idea of not having to feel like I'm wearing a diaper. I also don't like to see all the blood every time I wipe. I also feel a lot cleaner.

Tampons make me feel weird. I do wear them to play sports though. I just think pads are easier and hurt less.

Tampons because I feel cleaner, it lets me forget that i am on my period, there's no order of blood, and pads feel like a diaper. I don't like how pads feel.

tampons! pads can be so messy and just gross. If you are using tampons correctly they should not hurt at all... you shouldn't even feel them.

Pads are great for girls who aren't very experienced with their anatomy as they are easy to figure out. Tampons are good for girls who want to get to know about their bodies a little more and to have comfortable protection (Great for athletic girls!). You also forgot to mention menstrual cups! Menstrual cups are great for girls who have had about 2 years of experience with tampons first as the menstrual cups require more knowledge about your anatomy. I highly recommend cups to girls who have had a minimum of 2 years of tampon experience because they're healthier for you, environmentally friendly, cheaper in the long run, and they're more reliable than tampons AND pads both! My DivaCup has never leaked on me before (:

Most women don't know this (and it's quite sad...) but tampons/pads contain harmful chemicals like Dioxin, Rayon, and Bleach. Feminine hygeine manufacturers think that we, as women, need white and pure products to consider them clean so they bleach their products white. The problem with this is that Dioxin is produced during the bleaching process and dioxin is potentionally carcinogenic (associated with cancer!). The risk is incredibly higher if you use tampons since they are worn internally. Rayon is also a highly absorbent substance that is derived from wood pulp. Rayon harms the vagina because it's so highly absorbent that it absorbs the natural discharge of the vagina and it also upsets the vagina's natural moisture balance. Menstrual cups don't do this because they are made from 100% hypoallergenic medical-grade silicone (like the DivaCup, Lunette, and MoonCup!). If you want to know more go to their websites or google "livejournal menstrual cup" and a bunch of links pop up. To find out more about the harms of tampons go to the FDA's website. Best of luck!
