I had an accident with a stapler the other day at work, and managed to get a staple stuck in my thumb, kind of wedged under my finger nail. The children at the nursery I work at will probably be scarred for life from the torrent of swearing that followed.
Anyway, the first aider pulled it out for me (more swearing), and we phoned NHS Direct and the guy said to make an appointment with my GP and have a tetnus shot.
But now, it looks and feels fine - no swelling, discoloration, oozing or soreness, just a little red dot.
So do I still need a Tetnus Jab? I'm also four months pregnant, so can you even have one when you're pregnant???
I'll still make an appointment, if I have to, but I dont really want to waste their (or my) time if I dont need or cant have one. What do you think?

I have worn contacts for years , but now im 44. They say ur eyes change ????? I am having trouble with getting the right contact lense...
1) very near sighted.....Glasses are thicker than coke bottle bottoms :(
2) dr is giving me one lense weaker and one lense stronger....I DONT LIKE THEM... I cant seem to adjust to the change.
3) I tried bifocals and they worked for a day but then they got worse.
4) I DONT WANT TO WEAR READING GLASSES w/contacts.
5) L IS -7.5 AND R IS -6.5
6) What are my options??

next week i'm getting surgery on my foot/ankle. they are taking out a bone and reconstructing my foot. I've never had surgery before and I'm really nervous. Has anyone had something similar done before? What are the doctors going to do before and after the surgery? this is such a stupid question, but i'm really nervous about the anesthetic(Sp) and everything.

5 years ago, things were very different in my life. I had no job, no money, nothing. Any money I could get my hands on would go on booze or drugs - I'd sit with a few old friends in a brick shed every night getting hammered in some way until I was virtually unconscious. It all sounds pathetic, but some of the most memorable times I've had were in and around that shed, with those people.

5 years on things have changed - I'm where I imagined I'd never be. I have a great job, a salary most people 10 years my senior would be happy to take, a great girlfriend, a flash car, own a nice house etc. etc.

The thing is, I'm scared I've become boring. Life 5 years ago was not productive, but it was exciting. Now I'm just bored. I'm 22, but feel about 35. I'm sensible.

This depresses me. Is this odd?

I'm a 26 year old male, I have never had heartburn in my life(not even a mild episode). I had a tonsillectomy about three weeks ago and since then I have had SEVERE heartburn(if this is even heartburn). The pain/burning begins right above my sternum and end above my adams apple. It does NOT matter what I eat or drink the burning starts and hurts, this even includes milk. Does anyone know if this is related to the tonsillectomy or what might be causing this.

Also, I am in good shape(i play rugby for my college) so this is not a weight issue and again I have never had heartburn before. Please Help!

It's summertime and things are screwed up.
Things were already bad when I was sleeping at 6am and waking at 4pm. I tried to wait out a cycle and stay awake the whole night and then I accidentally took a nap at 5pm and then only slept for 4 hours. I've been trying to fix it by not sleeping at all except at night, and I have been exhausted for 3 days.
I am now sleeping at 2am and waking at 6pm and then sleeping at 2pm and waking at 6pm. What do I do to fix this? Will Tylenol PM help?

I've been on Ortho Evra for about a year and a half but now I don't feel l have a use for it anymore (at least not in the last few months). Would it be bad if I stopped using it and started up again later down the road if I needed it? Or is it better if I just stay on it?

i have absolutely no control over any thing in my life and i can't even make myself sick the way i want!



i dump water on my living room floor, just to know that i have control to do soething

i feel like i am spiraling downward faster and faster and there is nothing i can do about it and throwing up lets me know that i can do something that i want just for me, i feel so sick of this. i want to die. i need control and being able to do this will make me feel better

so i am going to camp in 2 days and im pretty sure that im going to start my period the 1st day. my periods are really heavy for the 1st two or three days. so i was wondering if anyone knew a natural way to delay your period (no pills or anything like that) and FAST! or how to make my period lighter at least! or if anyone has any suggestions of how to make my period more confortable while at camp!! thanks a ton!!!!

So i was late to work today, so i rushed, and forgot to eat breakfast, which has included coffee for the past 5 years.

so now, i have a terrible headache, and my eyes hurt from the headache.

I ate, but did not have any caffeinne today.

I got home, and had some tea, since it has some caffeinne,
then i took 2 aspirins, and 3 Ibuprofens.
10 mins later i had a coca-cola and a tylenol.

and now i'm on my 6th cup of coffee.

is this healthy???
