I've been on Ortho Evra for about a year and a half but now I don't feel l have a use for it anymore (at least not in the last few months). Would it be bad if I stopped using it and started up again later down the road if I needed it? Or is it better if I just stay on it?

it is actually a good idea to take a break from long periods of using birth control pills. you may want to look into barrier methods (i.e. diaphragm or cervical cap) they are not hormonal and are safer (but not as effective as pills)

they also help in preventing chlamydia and ghonorea, which birth control pills does not protect against.

You say that you do not have a use for it any more -presumably this means that you are not sexually active at present. If you stopped using it you would be at risk of becoming pregnant if you did become active. If you stopped using it it is not possible to say when you would start menstruating again. there is a possibility that you may restart in the future-become sexually active I assume.

How are you on the pill-1 are you tolerating it well
2 Are you periods "better" pain free, more predicable
3 Is there any specific reason to stop it.these are Q you must ask yourself.

My advice would be if you are happy on it ,free of side effects, your pill reviews (breasts,BP, Smear)satisfactory and a possibility of you being in a relationship Why stop?

I would agree with Shojo. It would be best to go off of birth control and wait till you are married. Do your research of the true side effects of B/C. Plus once the relationship goes below the shoulders, so does our brains. Us Ladies end up falling for the wrong guy, and in way to much heartache just because he was good in the sack. And if he is the right guy he would respect that you don't want to have sex without serious commitment. And being on B/C just gives us permission to be more lax on who we have sex with.

I would say stay on it. Most pills have benefits for women and they can help with your periods . You will also be safe if you happen to have one of those oops moments. It's better to be safe then sorry down the road.

I was on BCP for a year and then went off...the doctor told me I probably wouldn't get my period for six weeks, but he neglected to tell me I would be extremely fertile in those six weeks and that is how I became pregnant with my third child. Just know this is a real possibility.

Going on and off of the patch will mess up your hormonal balance and it would be hard for your period to stabalize. And because of that, your chances of getting pregnant are higher.

It would be best if you just picked one. Either stay on it or off it. Don't keep going back and forth. it will really mess things up.

It's better if you just stay off of it and wait until you're married and don't have to worry about unwanted pregnancies.
