I would say I'm moderately fit - I swim or row every second day and get around everywhere by foot. I also eat fairly well - lots of fruit and veges, and I only have sweet foods on 'special occassions' - once or twice a week. However, sometimes I find it hard to eat enough food to keep myself full, and if I look at how much I eat compared to how much energy I need, I'm guessing that I'm probably not getting enough food.
So, my question is whether it is okay to eat and drink "unhealthy" foods like sugary soft drinks and chocolate? Is a can of coke a day too much?
Everyone makes them out to be bad. Is this just because they've got a lot of energy and will make you fat if you eat too much, or are the products in fact bad no matter who you are?
What about diabetes? My family has a couple of cases of mild diabetes later in life. Currently I'm 25. Can sugary drinks and the like cause diabetes, or is it sugar and energy in *excess* of your daily needs that are the cause?
