Many people would say it's because not only is smoking dangerous for your health, but it's also harmful to others'. However, consider these:

1) Health disease is the number one killer in the U.S., not lung cancer (from secondhand smoke or otherwise). If there's such thing as a dangerous activity, it's eating too much unhealthy food and forgetting to exercise afterward. We should now treat obese people with just as much contempt!

2) Spreading gossips causes just as much harm to others. For one thing, it may result in psychological damage for objects of gossips, which may lead to depressions or, in worst cases, suicides. In the case of secondhand gossips, innocent passerbys will develop a significantly lower IQ and tendencies to murder teenagers with superficial concerns. Either way, not good.

In summary: just as obese people and gossipers are treated as human beings, so should smokers be!

During sex, the better and closer i feel to having an orgasm, the harder it is for him to continue. He says it feels so good, that it makes it hard for him not to have an orgasm. So its a battle.

I know that aspartame (artificial sweetener in diet sodas, sugar-free things) is bad for you. I have talked to nutritionalists who say that anything diet or sugar-free with aspartame in it is worse for you than the regular soda, other drink, or food. But what exact health effects does it have, and why do they keep using aspartame if it is so bad? Is it just like cigarettes, foods with preservatices, etc? They care more about selling their product than the effects it has on us?

every day, for as long as i can remember, in my 25 years, my nose has bled at least once a day. i have seen many doctors as a child, and three general doctors, 2 ENTs in the last six years.

according to each of them, i'm having an imaginary problem. which puzzles me, because i constantly have bloody tissue paper in my trash bags.

so, ignoring them, what could possibly cause this chronic nosebleed, and what could i do to possibly remedy the situation. i already know what to do during a nosebleed, i've had well over 7000 of them.

i do not participate in any sports. my stress level is minimal. i eat decently, and i drink watered down gatorade

My cousin thinks she can see the future she's 13 and is a total wack. She is pregnant with twins and her parents are in jail. Her dad, because he raped her and got her pregnant, her mom, because she dealed drugs to my cousin.

Is this weird?
Is there really such thing as a person that sees the future?

Based on the assumption that smoking has a negative impact on one's health, and the possibility that most smokers will die earlier than they would have if they had not smoked, won't the deaths of those who do die earlier reduce the drain on funds from the Social Security System and thereby contribute to saving it from financial trouble for the benefit of others (quitters) like me?

This question came to mind a few years ago when I read a long multipage article about smoking in the Washington Post. I noticed that the number of people who smoke in the US is nearly the same as the number of people who are members of the AARP (American Association of Retired People). I had just retired at the time and as an AARP member, I chuckled at the thought that the then current number of smokers might be unknowingly contributing to saving the Social Security System for the then current number of AARP members.

I am looking to meet others who are in the process or want to begin building a network of support friends that will help you to achieve your goals. I started a group (hopefully lots of people will join) here on yahoo groups called Gotta get fit now. If you can join me, or let me know if there are any other groups out there, that would be great!

Thanks in advance for your help!

If I had three morning episodes of diarrhea in the past three weeks, is this is sign of IBS? I really hope not because I'm on the birth control pill and I do NOT want it to affect it. I'm getting really upset because I wish it would go away...and I've normal bowel movements in between so I don't know what's going on. Please tell me this is normal and how I can make it go away. :(
