I'm planning on buying a sewing machine, but I don't know what kind to get. I want the best deal for my money. I don't need anything fancy; i just need reliability, smooth and easy to understand operation, and a decent price. Any suggestions?
I will be using this sewing machine for small craft projects, blankets, and clothing. All feedback is highly appreciated! Thanks!

I have this black top hat that's 100% polyester, and I need to color it green, so it'd look like the hat the Mad Hatter wears from Alice in Wonderland. I got it from a costume store, so it's not exactly a real top hat. Does anyone know what I could do? I was thinking about using regular spray paint, but it's the only hat I saw in the store, so I can't just buy another one if I mess it up.

Hello. I'm from the UK and I have just purchased an antique Steiff Bear, Brown Bear on cast iron wheels, I think he dates from 1919. I am told by the dealer that he belonged to a William Curn who resided in Steubenville in Ohio. He bought him from the Grandson but I have no details regarding the Grandson, only an old photograph depicting the Grandfather with the bear. Can anyone help me trace anyone that may know the family? I simply want to trace the bears history.

Thank you.

I am positive that it is threaded correctly, but after stitching a length of approx 6 inches, the cotton snaps.

I have tried different threads, different tensions etc.

I know its a vague question but was just hoping someone may have experienced the same! Its driving me mad!

I'm interested in making largish models (prototypes) on a tight (student) budget. If it is possible (there are always trade offs...) the material should be stronger (stiffer) than weaker (consider cardboard as the low end), and I want to be able to mark it, spray paint it, etc. Don't mind having to make it; but it shouldn't take too long to make (a week is entirely too long; remember, it's all about the prototyping!). In that vein, volume resolution doesn't need to be great. Any ideas? (if no one has ideas, I'll ask the engineering category)

I just made a model out of blue tac, and i really want to keep it, but its bound to get squashed or pulled apart, so i was wondering could i harden it like clay? Ive tried freezing it, and painting in nail varnis, but they didnt really work tbh.
Thx =D
