Any sturdy bag would do. The wee ones that have bubble gum might be more likely to get lost though. I you don't want to sew your own, get a wine bag and turn the drawstring area *completely inside* and follow directions in the "old bags" paragraph below.

Check with your local post office. They might not like taking it, but they probably *will* take nearly anything non-dangerous, provided you're willing to pay a standard "special handling" charge. Sometimes different branches have different policies, ways of interpreting regulations.

Do not have *any* strings dangling, special equipment aside, they get caught in things.

The *old* bags had the address label stitched into a seam and the bag was *sewn* shut. You can make a similar label from material salvaged from a used tyvek priority envelope. Use permanent ink for the address (not dry erase maker, but something there-forever). Use peal-and-stick stamps on the label.

I've mailed stuffed plastic soda pop bottles in this century and they arrived just fine (nothing to get caught in equipment, addess and stamps securely attached).
:-) You could put the pretty draw-string bag *inside* a plastic soda or water bottle ....

The Post Office won't take it. It will get caught on their equipment and slow down everyone's mail. Confine your creativity to the inside of the package.

In the U.S., the post office frowns upon using such things to mail stuff.

Use it as gift wrapping instead.
