I have always carved our Halloween pumpkins in the past, but this year I have to paint one for a contest at work. Should I use latex house paint, poster paint, spray paint? What works the best?

I think Tempera works best.

It comes in a lot of bright colors and is easy to cleanup with water if it spills or gets on your hands and clothes.

Hi:

Any type of paint will work as long as you don't use the pumpkin for food stuff.

However if you are; than use a safe water base acyclic paint Deltacraft has the best for that. and it cheap about $1 to $2 in small plastic bottles.

Acrylic paint is your best bet. FolkArt acrylic is thick, covers well, is easy to use and has a ton of colors. You can also try paint pens, but you'll get wider coverage with acrylics and a paintbrush.

Make sure you seal your painted pumpkin after the paint dries so it will withstand the elements.

Spray paint for all over colour, acrylic for detail. The seal it so it won't chip with spray sealer or brush on polyurethane.
