I have like no life and since I'm always sitting at home because I'm homeschooled what's a good hobby for me?
I sing, play the piano, read sometimes, and every once and a while I'll write stories.
Computers are like my only hobby right now.
I just want a new one that's active and I can do around the house. Please help!

Back in the 70s and 80s, my grandparents were forever buying annual proof sets of U.S. coins as well as "commemorative" coins which were supposedly produced by the U.S. mint.

My grandmother gave me these coins and I'm wondering if they have any real value ... or were my grandparents simply taken for a ride by mail order companies?

She also gave me about a dozen "silver certificate" 1-dollar bills from the 1930s. Are these of any value?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

One of my best friends mentioned years ago that his dad did model trains and had a big model train table before his dad passed away. He mentioned that he wanted to make something similar to it when he gets older, in part because it’s one of the few memories he has of his father. I’ve only recently remembered this conversation and I thought a starter kit or an informative book for beginners might be good for him as a birthday or Christmas present. Does anyone know anything about this hobby that might be able to make some good suggestions?

I am looking and hoping to buy this guitar: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Squier-Stop-Dreaming-SE-Special-Pack-With-Squier-SP10-Amp?sku=513287X . But, I was wondering, how do you give an electric guitar the metal sound common in most hard rock/metal songs. Is there a special thing that you have to buy or is it something that you must do with the amp. I don't really know anything about guitars so sorry if this is a stupid question. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

I need cogs and gears from clocks for a couple of art (steampunk) projects.

As a kid I used to disassemble clocks, to see how they worked and to have a cheap source of spinning tops.

The cogs and gears need to be fancy, maybe with cutout sections, just think old.

Now that I have a practical use for these items I am finding them difficult to obtain.

In doing some WAY early Christmas shopping, I thought that it would be neat if our 4yr old son could make personalized plates for all of the grandparents...but have had the toughest time looking for a site that offers them.

It's the plates that come blank and the child draws on them with special markers...you bake/heat the plates and then the drawing is sealed on permanently.

Thank you to all who answer and can end my searching!!

For Christmas I'm going to make a homemade "Memory" card game, with families pictures on it. Any suggestions on how to do this? I know one option would be to print the cards on cardstock and laminate them, but I'd rather have the cards be square (about 2.5" x 2.5") pieces of cardboard... smooth cardboard with smooth edges.... and then I could decoupage the pictures on. Where would I get cardboard squares (like the ones used in the real game)? Where would I buy that kind of cardboard? I'd rather not cut it up myself, but will if I have to. But, I'm not sure where to by thin, hard, smooth cardboard. THANKS FOR THE HELP!

The leather is black. The stitching is white. How can I dye the stitching black?

I cannot do the usual routine of boiling/adding salt - this could damage the leather or the entire item.

How can I successfully colour the stitching black? There is only a small amount of stitching and the item will not be washed regularly (it is not clothing).

Could I paint it with some type of acrylic!?

Thanks for your help.

I have been playing guitar for 9 years, but know just enough about repairs to get by. On one of my Ovation Celebrity Deluxes, my G string always sounds off. I don't think its an issue of tuning; I have multiple digital tuners, and they will all say that it is on pitch, but to my ear (as well as everyone else's) it sounds off. I've tried changing my strings many times, using different gauges, different brands, and even different string styles, all with no avail. Also of note, it doesn't seem to matter whether I am playing the string open or on any fret up and down the neck, it always just sounds off. Can anyone think of any possible issues? Please help, I used to love this guitar...
