Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of quarters or half dollars are $500. You don't have to buy the whole box. The bank can pull out whatever amount you like.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin album and try to fill all the holes (get one for each year) or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same coins over and over). Everything you find will have been obtained at face value. You'd be surprised what people have found. Check out these links to see:

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, coins with the "S" mintmark - it could be a proof coin etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

It's also helpful to buy a red book. It can help you price your coins and will answer many of the questions you may have.

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

It all depends on what you like to do. Do you like to sing? Join a choir or start a garage band with you as vocalist. Are you crazy about Star Wars? You could collect the merchandise, or just the books, or build Lego models of all the machinery. (I saw a pretty impressive Lego "chicken walker" awhile back...)

People collect an amazing variety of things--money, stamps, hats, beer mugs, walking sticks, socks... I collect historical and ethnic paper dolls, my mom collects Spider-Man merchandise, my sister collects porcelain dolls, and my other sister collects VeggieTales toys.

You could learn a craft--knitting, leather tooling, woodworking, calligraphy, model building, painting, or even soap carving.

Or start playing a sport: soccer, tennis, basketball, golf, Ping-Pong...

A really great use of your time is charity work. Depending on what you like to do, you could get involved in Habitat for Humanity (building houses for the homeless) or volunteer at a local nursing home or community center.

If you do any handicrafts, you could help one of the numerous charities that make things for the needy, such as Guideposts magazine's Knit for Kids sweater project (their web site is http://www.knitforkids.org/ ) or Project Linus, blankets for underprivileged children, at http://www.projectlinus.org/ which has local chapters all over the country (often with a building where you can drop in and help make blankets), or the Warm Up America Project at http://www.warmupamerica.org/ which makes knitted and crocheted afghans.

Or if you prefer woodworking and want to help an endangered species, you could make bluebird houses--there's a basic pattern at http://www.laspilitas.com/bluebird.htm along with information on bluebirds and why they need houses.

I'm not affiliated with any of these groups--I just think making the world a better place is one of the best things you can do with your spare time.

Whatever you decide to do, have fun!

I'm 20, and I've just recently taken on street surfing, but to answer your question (kind of) - I suppose it depends on the type of person you are. Some prefer to take on arts and crafts, some choose fitness regimes, while others prefer to collect certain items. If I were you, I'd narrow it down to one of those three, then come back and ask again.

There so many options to choice from, but without any insight of your personality...the safest bet...what will benefit you in the future the most...INVESTMENT....if money is of no value than what about your HEALTH....try some excercises or a class that has to do with body improvment....if all else fails...think of something that the ladies would love.
