without using dry ice?

Dry ice is the cheap method, it involves dry ice, Styrofoam cooler, water and a hair dryer. That is all. The others are fog machines that can be rented from a theatrical supply house and they use fog juice, it is not cheap

Fog machines push smoke a certain ditection...
a cheap way to cause this affect, is Dry ice..you'll need a large container,coolwater, and fan(house type) and couple towels
i don't know how large area your talking about "idea is to put Dry ice into water to make smoke or fog cover with towels, have fan ready as cloud accumulates blow in direction you want it to...Dry ice available at grecery stores ask around...
cost for small brick about 3 times of regular ice $3.00 a piece
