I have been sewing along, and all of a sudden my machine needs some adjustment. The lower thread is loose enough that I can pull it right out of the stitches after I sew a length. What do I do?

The machine is a Husky, if that makes any difference.

I am a cheer coach and am trying to pull together a black light pep rally. The pep rally will be in the gym which has all windows covered in black paper. There will be elementary children sitting on the floor by the outlets so I am trying to figure out how to set up the lights so that the cheerleaders and whoever else is performing will be "glowing." Any help would be much appreciated.

My little sister is getting a sewing machine for her 10th birthday in a couple weeks (she has been begging for months). She has never sewn on a machine before and I have very limited experience, so I'm going to also be learning how as I help teach her.

Do you have any suggestions on what should be her first "learning" project? Something very very simple.

I'd like to include enough fabric with the machine when she opens it for at least a couple projects to get her started, and then of course a gift card to JoAnn's or something so she can pick out some of her own fabrics.

Please tell me how much fabric I would need with your project idea! :)

Thanks for any help!!

Can I run 2 LiPo battery packs in parallel (charging each separately, then hooking them together afterwards) give me a super long run time from my R/C car?

Can you do that with any other scale or car?...like the standard 1:10's?

I'm making a board game, and I'm trying to make clean pieces. So far, I've tried to tape paper onto a coin, or just glue it on, but the first is ugly, and the second doesn't work. What else could work as pieces that don't fly away in the wind or what is a good way to make paper stick to a coin without looking tacky?

Ok, so I figured out that last step after watching an origami tutorial thing on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F8ajh_DDYs&mode=related&search= ) but the step at 3:49 confounds me now...

If it helps any, I used my webcam to get screenshots of what I managed to get (shots taken from both sides):

I'm just getting started in woodcarving small sculptures and I'd like to get a power tool to help out. I see that there are some that cost $300-800 (like the "Mastercarvers Micro Pro") and then there is the Dremel tool and flexishaft accessory for less than $100. I don't mind spending the extra money if it's better product--I plan on using it a long time. Does anyone know the benefits of the more expensive products? What's the difference?

I have an old key, from perhaps the early 1900s, but I don't know what it goes to. The only person who would have known was my grandfather, who died recently. No one in the family knows what the key was for. It's rather small, a "barrel key" I think because its long-ish thin shaft is hollow. Does anyone know where I can find more information about the key? Or does anyone know what the key might go to? My grandfather was a ship's captain if that helps, so perhaps the key might have something to do with equipment on a ship...? Any help would be great, thanks!

I am finishing a cloak out of cotton velour in a beautiful shade of jade. I love the material. However I was thinking about weatherproofing it and had several recommendations for Nikwax. Has anyone ever used weatherproofing? Did you like it? And do you know if cotton velour can be machine washed (as thats how you weatherproof it)? Thanks!

I'm trying to learn to use my new sewing machine but as soon as I try to sew, the threads just turn into a tangled shredded mess on the material. I am sure I have it properly threaded, the correct needle, good quality thread and I don't think I have altered the settings much. It is a very basic beginner machine (Brother) and I am just trying to sew regular medium cotton material to start. I am bringing bobbin thread up and am setting presser foot down. It seems as if the feed dogs are trying to gobble up the material as well and so on top of the jumbled shredded threads, the material is also sometimes torn. Does anyone know what I mean and what the solution might be? THANKS!!
