I actually collect coins but a few years ago I was approached by a person in my town and he wanted to sell two albums of the First Day Covers with the gold and real stamps. There were a lot of historical ones so I bought booth albums for $100. There are at least 300 of the covers if you add up both albums each have a gold stamp. Some are 18kt and some are 22 kt. I have seen then for sale in Coin World for $2.95 each and less if you buy. quantity. They have been on eBay and other auction sites and sell for $5 or less each. A person who wants to say display some coins may throw one or two into it, that is why I bought them. The amount of gold in them is only a few cents worth. I believe they may be gold plated. I have never taken one out to check. They just don't seem to have much of a secondary market value but that is also like a lot of Franklin Mint items.
