I'm making a board game, and I'm trying to make clean pieces. So far, I've tried to tape paper onto a coin, or just glue it on, but the first is ugly, and the second doesn't work. What else could work as pieces that don't fly away in the wind or what is a good way to make paper stick to a coin without looking tacky?

About the hardware washers, would sanding them or making them rough help? When my dad wants to apply paint to some smooth surface, he sands it first, then applys paint so it sticks better. Would that help?

Try hardware washers too. Get a good hobby glue, some sturdy paper, maybe even a thin cardboard. then buy some small clamps.

Glue the paper (or thin cardboard) to whatever you decide to use and then put them between a couple pieces of wood and clamp it down tight to get it to really set up right. Just don't use too much glue to prevent the piece from sticking to the wood.

There are loads of ways you can make game pieces from polymer clay (or even air-dry clays). Check some of them out from this page at my site:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/kids_beginners.htm
(... click on GAMES near the bottom of the list, then look around ...)

You could also embed a metal nut or something heavy inside the bottom of the clay, or just push the clay down into the nut before baking for a kind of a mechanical hold if you want the nut to show.

paint the coin(light color) and then put whatever you want on it afterwards.
I suppose if you put enough paint on it the coins design won't come through.
Latex paint?
