I've been thinking maybe some art & craft things from joanne fabrid or michaels arts. or maybe baking cookie. but i need more input and ideas. any interesteding art & crafts stuff that elderly peoples might like? note: she can't lift heavy stuff or bend her back since she hurt her back before.

I have been crocheting for about a year now, & I still can not figure out why all my pieces turn out shorter than they are supposed to be. My mother-in-law said I was crocheting too tightly, so I loosened things up & she says that I am doing good now, but I am still having trouble with the height of my pieces. She can not figure out what I am doing wrong either. For instance, I am now working on a bed spread for my daughter's single bed. The pattern is supposed to fit a queen size bed with enough left over to cover the pillows. The finished pattern has 6 diamonds (in a verticle row), mine will need like, 8 or 10 to be long enough to cover her bed from end to end & go over the pillows like it is supposed to. I am using the correct hook & yarn for the pattern. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm trying to make my own charms and I want to know which sealant/enamel is best to coat a photo. Something like this:

http://www.mementocharms.com/how_to_make_photo_jewlery.htm

They squeeze clear enamel on top of the charm to give it a shiny round look. Which is best to use? Will nail polish top coats be a good alternative? Thanks!

Is it exceptional the the items from the Star Trek auction brought such a high bid for every item because they were items of the shows, or that those items were of the future that we will surely realize as our ultimate future?

Are you surprised at the final bids for such items and what do you think of the Enterprise selling for half of a million dollars?

I am hosting a baby shower for my sister-in-law. I handmade the babyshower invitations using scrapbooking techniques and I would like to something as crafty for the corsage. I am drawing blanks and am only finding ideas for the sock corsage...naturally I am wanting something more unique or different. Any ideas???? The baby is a girl and theme is ladybugs with emphasize on the green and red. Mommy-to-be doesn't like alot of baby pink.
Thank you in advance for any ideas that could get me started on this project.

What I'm building is more like a wearable parade float; it's mostly poultry wire and wood bracing to be worn. The overall outfit is to look like a space marine from the Warhammer 40K series, to their scale (about 8 ft. tall). My problem is the shoulder pads are very hard for me to make, inexpensively. I have access to poultry wire, cardboard, and paper mache. For scale, it needs to be about:
1.5' x 2' fourth of an oval
Any tips on how to create this weird shape would help me out of a pickle (the more technical the better).

okay i know that spinning has something to do with flax and you use a loom to make cloth but i need to know the steps for a fantasy story
a website would give me great visuals i need to know the old fashion way of doing it like before colonial times, maybe even the elizabethan era, but it has to be old
oh and what role does a spindle play in spinning, i remember it in a book i read months ago but i can't remember it
how long would it take to spin a certain amount of string i guess you call it and how long would it take to make it to cloth using a loom?
how would they dye it and how would they embroider it?
thanks!
