Is it exceptional the the items from the Star Trek auction brought such a high bid for every item because they were items of the shows, or that those items were of the future that we will surely realize as our ultimate future?

While Star Trek has has inspired many scientists and inventors, I'm sure the auction prices were because of the rabid fan base that Star Trek enjoys.
