Why is the Thanksgiving holiday a week early this year?

Thanksgiving is on the twenty-third this year. But the thirtieth is also a thursday. I thought thanksgiving was always celebrated on the last thursday of the month; and in this case, there's still one more thursday in the month. But there is no friday...since the thursday is the last day of the month. So the last friday of the month is the twenty fourth. But I thought that the only reason employers gave that friday off was because they thought ppl would take it off anyway. IF this is the case; then why isn't thanksgiving holiday on the thirtieth instead of the twenty-third? Just really curious. HOnest answers please, thanks.

Peanut Butter?

I used to buy a "natural" kind of PB from Whole Foods Market, which had to be refrigerated because the only things in it were peanuts and salt. But lately I've been not caring about all the preservatives and stuff and just buying the other kind (Jif) despite its ingredients... sugar, high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, sodium whateveranate.. etc...
and the nice little label that reads "40% PEANUTS"

How bad is this stuff for me really? Is it bad that I eat around 4 tablespoons a day?

Is Friday too soon to take my frozen turkey out of the freezer?

I will be making and freezing pies on Friday and will need the freezer space. Will it be OK to begin defrosting the turkey, in the refrigerator of course, 6 days early?
