Why not? it works for me

2006-11-15 03:31:13 · answer #1 · answered by electric_girl 3 · 0 0

Why Not?

I would suggest trying unusual cracker types, and maybe a few different cheeses, but it does usually work as an informal snack!..... Also consider using Dips and the various Salsa's that are easy to make (or even buy from local Supermarkets)!

I've also found that making sort of mini-pizzas out of crackers, cheese etc.... then zapping them in the microwave for about 20-30sec (for a plate) go down very well!.... Don't forget the tomato puree though!

Experiment!..... Be Varied, and enjoy what you prepare!..... It's not as if life depends on the outcome, so just go for something, and if it's interesting as well as a nice snack, you may have 'Upped the Qudos'!!

Hope this Helps!....... Enjoy!

A nice selection of cheeses would be great but forget the biscuits. They are boring and dry and in general pretty tasteless.
Look in your quality bakers or even the supermarkets and they now sell many varieties of BREAD. Different flavours and textures. Hard bread, soft bread, crusty bread, olive bread, tomato bread, the types are almost endless.
Serve with a charcuterie of cold meat and/salami or cream cheese.
And what goes with this lovely bread, Wine. Red or white but the red gives the better flavour. Try South African Chenin Blanc or a Shiraz from South Africa. Chile produces a similar range and the flavours are wonderful.
I wish I could come if you opt for my ideas.
Good luck what ever you do and have a good time.
By the way the wine could be on a bring one with you basis but you specify the types..

Onle as the very last course served with a nice glass of port, or forget the biscuits and make a thing of serving a specific cheese with a matching wine.

Yes but unless they're drinking beer I'd tend to swap the pickles for something fruity like grapes. Mix up the cheeses - a cheddar type, a blue, and maybe a brie. And get some oatcakes, yum!

Sure, of course! As a snack, or an hors d'oeuvre.
We usually add a dish of olives, some mixed rosated & salted nuts, and maybe some pate along with different cheeses and a couple types of biscuits (crackers) or breads.

Yup!

Why not add a selection of cold meats, salads (normal mixed salad, potato salad, coleslaw, some fresh baked bread, maybe some Ciabatta bread, some pate and some pickled onions and make a whole meal out of it?!!

Goes down especially well in summer.

Nah, get the beer out. Nachos n dips, or order a take-a-way or summit. Biscuits & cheese seems a bit formal

For good friends a hug would be good enough.

But really yes informal gathering of friends just to chat and chill, a nice selections of crackers and cheeses and maybe a bit of dip with carrots and celery.

I would come over.
