Tescos is the BIG player. Get at them and you get at them all.

what an interesting idea.

they need to do something about it it's getting ridiculous.

especially as they are going to start charging us for the amount of rubbish we bin each week.

Better still we should be going to other shops, especially to butchers, bakers, greengrocers, farm shops (if they only sell their own goods), etc. They don't use a lot of packaging and you can tell them what you want, not what Tesco, etc want you to have.
That would break the near monopoly that the large supermarkets have on food retail, and provide local businesses with more income per item than Sainsbury and Tesco squeeze.

Its a good idea, but why only Tesco, why not Marks and Sparks, Old Sainsbury's and Morrison's? they are all the same.
I find that Tesco are one of the better brands for reducing packaging, but they do seem to use a lot of PVC instead of Recyclable Cardboard!
I already send back junk mail, if they are kind enough to include a pre-paid envelope!
The thing that gets me, is all of the insert advertising in our two free weekly local papers. The bin is full of glossy colour paper by Friday night and we don't even read it! The paper itself is recycled as a home made fire log by my mother on her log burning fire.

i used to work for tesco and we were told that our new policy was to cut down on all packaging,,,NOT TRUE we had a refit at our store and almost ALL the produce ie toms onions carrots all started to come in pre packed when they were loose b4,so yes i would take off the packaging at the checkout, especially as local councils are talking about charging people extra for taking over a certain amount of rubbish each week,,,,so lets all join together and fight the big supermarkets, shop in your local street market if you have one

Why Blame Tesco ? I Have Shopped there for years and their packaging is just the same as every one else`s ! it`s just the name brand that is different ! And they do the cheapest petrol in my area at the moment ( 83.9 ) The M.P Who suggested this action should be sacked and Tesco should take him to court for defamation of character !

why Tesco? aren't all the supermarket's the same ., what i think is wasteful is the packaging where the content's are practically lying at the end of the container ,and the container is twice the size.

Sorry, there is no Tesco near me other than one of the small express ones. I don' t go there because it is more expensive than Lidl. Will Lidl do? It is a German chain and they are quite good at limiting packaging.

i do agree , but its not justtesco, why should they take the blame for the state of the rubbish everywhere, when there are kfc, mcdonalds, kebab wrappers, cigerettes, sweet wrappers etc all over the place, you could say EVERYBOBY uses to much packaging it is NOT just tesco

good idea but I will feel sorry for the checkout persons,it is not their fault,i do buy vegetables in local market and good value but I find local butchers charge outrageous amount so I don't go there often.
