After seeing a recent Marth Stewart recipe I went to Wal-Mart to buy the ingredients, one of which was heavy cream. This is what we call whipping cream in the UK. But, at Wal-Mart nobody knew what I was talking about and told me that they only had cream cheese or sour cream. I figured that sour cream wouldn't be a good idea, since the recipe is for scalloped potatoes.
In the end they suggested Cool Whip, a frozen cream-substitute. Will it be OK to use this in place of the heavy cream?
