Beers are best served at temperatures ranging from 45 to 65F.
If it is too cold it will make your mouth numb and then you will not be able to enjoy the taste.
Well chilled (7 °C/45 °F) for "light" beers (American and Australian lagers),
Chilled (8 °C/47 °F) for Berliner Weisse,
Lightly chilled (9 °C/48 °F) for European lagers, all dark lagers, altbier and German wheat beers,
Cellar temperature (13 °C/55 °F) for regular British ale, stout and most Belgian specialities
Room temperature (15.5 °C/60 °F) for strong dark ales (especially trappist beer) and barley wine.

darker beers are traditionally served at higher temps as are british beers. Good rule of thumb is the less flavor it has the colder you should drink it. Serving beer at warmer temperatures brings out the flavor.55 to 58 for stouts and porters. 32 degrees for your basic bland american lager.

I ususally put them in the freezer and drink them right before they freeze. Although the best beer is from a tap.
