I'm making a pumkin pie (now) and if I want to make leaf cutouts out of pie dough for a decoration on top of the pie, when do I put them on the pie? After a while or now while it's baking? I'm putting the pie in the oven now, so I need your answers quickly!!

It depends, do u want the cut outs to set on top, or be sunk in alittle. If u want them on top i would bake them separate and place them on after the pie was done. If u wanted them to be sunk in a little i would put them on after the pie has been cooking for a while. If the cut outs are thick u can bake them a while separate then add them on. I hope this helps you.

You should put them on them on when you put the pie into the oven so they can cook throughly. But you should check often because typically pumpkin pies do not have a top crust and you don't want to risk burning the cutouts. Good Luck!

Put them on the pie and bake them now. I've never had pumpkin pie with a top crust, so I don't know how it will work if you are putting it on top of the filling, they might sink into the pie while cooking.

Since you are just placing it on top as a design; AFTER the Pie has Baked and Cooled; place your leaf design on top...That is how I've done it.

Some people also make leaf designs which they attach to the pie crust edges as part of the flute design and bake before it is done.

Bake the pie first so your top will not sink to the bottom then when about 10-15 min. remain add top crust. make sure center is not liquid. But it sould be moist so the top crust can adhere to pie if the top cust starts to brown too much cover it with aluminum foil but only the crust part

if they are the thickness of the pie crust, now... if you rolled them thinner than the pie crust, wait a little. they def. need to bake though!

Put them on when you first put the pie in.
